Volunteer

The Chicago Coalition for the Homeless is an advocacy organization.
Our success comes from the collaborative effort of many people.

You can help by:

1. Taking action with us through letter writing, calling your legislator
or attending a rally. The way to find out about these opportunities is
to sign up for our email action alerts.

2. Educating fellow members of your congregation, university or civic group by inviting our Speakers Bureau to come out and share their story of homelessness and experience fighting for change with CCH.

3. Forming a core team at your congregation, university, or civic group if one doesn’t already
exist to advocate for the end and prevention of homelessness. Read
about students at North Eastern Illinois University who are getting
their fellow students involved.

4. Volunteering at a local shelter. Look for opportunities at http://www.volunteermatch.org/

If you are interested in forming a committee to fight and prevent
homelessness at your congregation, university or civic group, please email Hannah Willage or call 312-435-4548 ext 239.

Current Volunteer Opportunities:

Chicago Coalition for the Homeless is looking for a work-study student, intern
or volunteer to assist with data entry, donor acknowledgement and
special event prize solicitation. You will be working in the
development department. The time commitment is flexible, but work
must take place during regular business hours (9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.,
Mon. to Fri.). We prefer volunteers able to work long-term--for
at least several months--but we are particularly in need of volunteer
help during the month of December. College students home for the
holidays are welcome! Database experience is preferred but not
required; you must be detail-oriented. Please email a resume or
brief description of yourself to Mimi Chubb at
mchubb@chicagohomeless.org.
