In the 1990s, the Chicago Coalition for the Homeless launched Growing Home, Inc., under the direction of our late founder and long-time director, Les Brown.

So we're looking forward to watching this week's airing of CBS Sunday
Morning (8 a.m., Nov. 23), as it profiles urban farm projects,
including Growing Home.

Since 2002, Growing Home has offered job training for homeless and
low-wage adults in Chicago through a social enterprise based on organic
agriculture.

Several CCH leaders have gone on to complete the Growing Home summer program, including Helen Smith, a member of the CCH Speakers Bureau.

"I loved the program -- organic farming -- man, I loved the program!"
Helen told us this morning. "It taught me how to eat better, and how to
grow my own organic vegetables."
