Sun-Times editorial - worth reading!
Posted December 29th, 2008 by adminThis was the lead editorial in Sunday's (Dec. 28) Chicago Sun-Times. Well put!
Quit whining, Chicago -- and start shoveling.
It's not popular to say, but enough is enough.
This page has been inundated with letters from Chicagoans outraged that the city has cut back on plowing and salting side streets this winter.
We understand your anger -- we've gotten stuck in the snow too. But cursing out Mayor Daley isn't going to help.

Thank you, Zumiez!
Posted December 2nd, 2008 by adminHat's off -- make that hats on! -- to the impressive generosity of the retail folks at Zumiez, Inc.
For a 3rd straight year, the Zumiez Foundation shipped us 44 boxes of
winter jackets, hoodys, beanies, gloves, and socks, and 10 bales of
blankets – 2,200 lbs. of warmth just when Chicagoans need it!
The Zumiez bounty arrived just before Thanksgiving, and the CCH
organizing staff has already distributed outerwear to more than 100
people.

Growing Home Will Be Featured on CBS, Nov. 23
Posted November 21st, 2008 by adminIn the 1990s, the Chicago Coalition for the Homeless launched Growing Home, Inc., under the direction of our late founder and long-time director, Les Brown.
So we're looking forward to watching this week's airing of CBS Sunday
Morning (8 a.m., Nov. 23), as it profiles urban farm projects,
including Growing Home.
Since 2002, Growing Home has offered job training for homeless and
low-wage adults in Chicago through a social enterprise based on organic
agriculture.
